STOCK ORCHARD STREET

Project information

Winner of four major architectural awards including the highly prestigious RIBA Sustainability Award, 9 Stock Orchard Street (also known as Straw Bale House) by Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, was and still is a pioneering and iconic example of sustainable architecture.

The house, was built on a piece of infill land next to a railway line in North London and functions both as home, architecture studio and test bed for new ideas. We were delighted that Resilica was chosen to feature as a large 'inside outside' dining table which intersects through an external wall to be used as a patio table outside the building, and the colour recipe develop reflects its recycled origins and to appear simply as recycled bottle bank glass.

20 years later, in 2020 the house has just undergone a major refurbishment and we are equally as delighted to see the original table still being retained and used.
